Volunteers from Shoosmiths have helped spruce up a Birmingham home for men who had nowhere to live.

Six staff from the national law firm’s Colmore Row office grabbed paintbrushes and rollers to give a fresh lick of paint to Hanwood House, in Leopold Street, Highgate.

Run by Midland Heart, Hanwood House is home to 27 single men aged 25 and over.

Shoosmiths, which has also donated £100 to the project, was invited to take part by Midland Heart, which organises an annual away day enabling businesses in the region to offer volunteer help at one of its properties.

Partner and social housing specialist Yetunde Dania said: “We were only too happy to take the opportunity to come along and get stuck into some worthwhile work that’s going to make the residents’ surroundings a lot more pleasant.”

Housing and care and support organisation Midland Heart manages more than 32,000 properties.
