An initiative to give overseas journalists a memento of their trip to the Midlands has been launched by Birmingham Press Club and Heart of England Tourism.
Visitors will get the opportunity to receive a signed certificate entitling them to honorary membership of the club, the oldest in the world.
Sam Warnock, Heart of England Tourism's head of regional communications, said: "We are delighted to be working with the Press Club in profiling the region and what it has got to offer to the hundred plus international journalists who will be visiting us this year."
Club chairman John Lamb said the scheme was a further example of how the organisation was building links with journalists from other parts of the world.
The certificates are all signed by Mr Lamb, club president Viscountess Cobham, Heart of England Tourism chairman Sir William Lawrence and the organisation's chief executive, David Moyser.
Meanwhile, one of the country's best-known national newspaper columnists, Richard Littlejohn - a former Birmingham Evening Mail Industrial Correspondent - is guest of honour at press club celebrity lunch on Friday. The event takes place at Wongs restaurant in the Jewellery Quarter. For ticket information contact Kay Cadman on 0121 643 8151.
