The operations director of the NEC Group has resigned eight months after taking up his post.
Shaun Ormrod left his job after it was decided many of his responsibilities were to be devolved to each of the NEC's individual venues.
Mr Ormrod, who was previously chief executive of the Telford International Centre, only arrived last April.
An NEC spokeswoman said: "Mr Ormrod's role would have been reduced greatly, and he took the decision the job was not for him."
