Birmingham-based guitar rock station Kerrang! Radio is to market its own CD featuring new acts.

The Unsigned Showcase CD is being launched in partnership with HMV and The University of Wolverhampton.

Compiled by the hosts of Kerrang! Radio's Unsigned Show, the CD highlights some of the artists that the show has championed over the last two years.

Released today 25,000 copies of the CD will be distributed free via HMV Record Stores throughout the West Midlands and at various Kerrang! Radio events. It will also contain a CD-Rom detailing information for the university's September application and entry process.

Kerrang! programme director Adam Uytman said: "This project has happened due to the high quality of the music played in a show that is constantly forging strong links with the music industry."

Having already celebrated their first major label signing with band Casino and Polydor Records, presenter cohosts Rob & Loz are hoping this project will bring a similar outcome.
