Birmingham youth homelessness charity St Basils is encouraging local companies to sign up for its summer sponsored walk challenge.
Now in its 14th year, this year’s walk will be a circular trek across the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire.
The challenge is a team event and there are two routes on offer; one is 13 miles the other 26 miles. This is a great event for anyone who likes a walk with a purpose and provides the opportunity to get away from the office and interact with colleagues in a totally different environment.
The event is sponsored by Bournville based Kraft Foods who provide energy boosting treats for walkers en route.
St Basils, which is now in its 40th year of operation, work with young people aged 16-25 across the West Midlands to enable them to find and keep a home, and then develop their confidence, skills and opportunities to stop the cycle of exclusion and homelessness.
St Basils helps 4,000 young people per year and can house more than 400 young people per night, which for some young people, includes their young children as well. A total of 95 teams took part in last year’s challenge, which included representatives from 32 local firms; 11 of them legal firms and six finance firms.
