The Phoenix Four have recruited a former Rover Group public relations specialist to help them to improve their public image.

Ian Strachan, aged 51, who now runs a PR consultancy based at Lichfield, has been retained by Phoenix Venture Holdings on a part-time basis.

He takes over the job of speaking for PVH chairman John Towers and his colleagues from Daniel Ward who left recently to become worldwide communications manager with JCB.

Mr Strachan was previously corporate communications director with the old Rover Group and later held a similar post with Birmingham vanmaker LDV.

He set up his own PR business in 2000 and now acts for a number of corporate clients throughout the West Midlands.

?I have worked with John Towers in my time as group communications director with Rover Group and I look forward to working with him again,? Mr Strachan said yesterday.

?I am also looking forward to ensuring that the Phoenix team receives the recognition it deserves for rescuing MG Rover in 2000 and providing continuous car production and the employment of more than 5,000 people for five years.?
