Teams from 60 Midland companies have raised £145,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Big Build Appeal.

The 11th annual Birmingham Brain Game at the International Convention Centre was hosted by Noddy Holder with special guest Bill Oddie.

Money raised on the night will go towards the charity’s £3 million appeal to build a new hospice in Solihull.

Not-for-profit healthcare insurer and employee benefits supplier BHSF Group sponsorsed the event with Santander Corporate Banking sponsoring the champagne reception.

Staff from No5 Chambers won the title of Top Brain Game team of 2012 after a dramatic on-stage tie-breaker.

Organiser Noel Cramer said: “To think that we can raise this kind of money in such difficult times is yet more evidence that Birmingham businesses are fully behind Marie Curie’s project to build a brand new hospice for the West Midlands.

“It’s a stunning outcome and shows yet again that businesses in this region lead the way – this time in charitable generosity.”
