A luxury hotel near Coventry has achieved four-star status.

The Macdonald Brandon Hall Hotel & Spa, which has invested £11 million since 2004, has been given the stamp of approval by AA inspectors.

The hotel in Main Street, Brandon, has been rewarded for the improvement in the quality of all its services and facilities.

Debbie Johnson, general manager, said: "The hotel has grown extensively following a massive refurbishment and development by Macdonald Hotels.

"We have opened 62 new bedrooms, a dedicated conferencing complex and a Vital Leisure and Health Spa since last December."

The accolade comes just three months after scooping an AA rosette.

Macdonald Hotels and Resorts operates more than 60 hotels in the UK and controls a business with an annual turnover in the region of £250 million.
