The hugely popular Horse of the Year Show returns to the NEC in Birmingham next month - and is expected to generate business worth millions of pounds for local companies.

Organisers claim that last year's event brought a staggering £10.85 million to Birmingham and the surrounding area - greater than the 2003 World Indoor Athletics Championships and the 1997 Ashes Test

match. On average spectators last year spent between £100 and £150 at the trade stands.

This year's event opens on Wednesday, October 12 and will run until October 16.
