One of Birmingham's biggest hotels is under new ownership.

The Holiday Inn Birmingham City, opposite New Street Station, has been acquired by Cairn Hotels, one of the UK's largest private hotel groups.

The Birmingham property was one of a package of 11 Holiday Inn hotels which Christie & Co has marketed on behalf of LRG Acquisition Limited.

Some predictions put the value of the hotel at #17 million, but the exact sum has not been disclosed.

"The Holiday Inn Birmingham City is the ninth hotel we have sold out of a package of 11 properties, on behalf of LRG Acquisition Limited," said Christie & Co Director Jeremy Jones.

"We recently sold seven properties to Premier Travel Inn for #34.5 million."

The Holiday Inn Birmingham City has 16 function rooms, which can accommodate up to 630 delegates. It has 280 rooms across nine floors and has its own restaurant.

Cairn Hotel Group have yet to reveal their plans for the site.
