Would-be pop stars Mrs Robinson became the first group to open dealings at the London Stock Exchange - to rapturous applause from staff.

Tanya, Shereen and Paula, whose first single comes out in June, sported pink bras under navy pinstripe three piece suits for the ceremony.

Shereen said that while they were at the Exchange, they would use the opportunity to meet a representative from the AIM junior market with a view to becoming listed themselves.

She added: "We are excited about being invited down to open the day's dealings and want to take full advantage by seeking advice from AIM to see if it's possible for our fans to have a share in our success."

The Mrs Robinson single, I'm A Little Obsessed, comes out on June 1, the day after the band features on BBC1 fly on the wall documentary Paparazzi.

An album, Obsession, is also scheduled.

A spokesman for the Exchange said the opportunity to open the market had been auctioned on BBC's Children In Need, and was bought by the band's promoter.
