Chartered surveyor David Hemming has returned to his roots at Burley Browne to head up the retail department of the niche property consultancy, which has offices in Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield.
His appointment as partner brings a wealth of retail experience to the company, and enables it to provide a fully comprehensive service across all sectors.
Mr Hemming, who has been made a partner, began his career with Burley Browne as a graduate surveyor in 1995, following a degree in estate management at the University of Central England in Birmingham.
After qualifying as a chartered surveyor in 1997, he stayed for a further two and a half years, before joining Chesterton's retail department for four years, where he represented a number of wellestablished retailers and landlords, including Ann Summers, The Aga Shop, Centrica, Hortons Estates and Richardsons.
He joined King Sturge in March 2004 as an associate, again specialising in retail, with high-profile clients such as Orange, Holland & Barrett and Bank of Ireland.
At Burley Browne he is working alongside partners Andrew Burley and Peter Browne, with a brief to expand the retail side on a local, regional and national level. Mr Hemming will handle clients such as William Hill and the Costa Coffee franchisee for the Birmingham area.
