RSM Robson Rhodes' Birmingham office has appointed Helen Shaw from PricewaterhouseCoopers as manager.

She joins the public sector consulting team - launched just two years ago. It has gone from two people to nine consultants focusing on local government and local agencies, education and health.

The Midlands has become the firm's largest region for public sector consultancy out-side London, with revenues increasing in the last three years to £1 million for 2005/6.

Clients include Birmingham City Council, Coventry City Council, Northamptonshire County Council, Leicester City Council, Nottinghamshire Fire Authority and Northamptonshire Police Authority.

Director Ian Washington said: "With over eight years experience in the public sector audit and advisory arena, her knowledge and expertise will be a great asset."

Ms Shaw said: "I am very excited about the opportunities that exist within this very strong public sector consulting team. The exceptional growth of the department has been amazing."
