The Birmingham office of accountants Ernst & Young is looking for more than just a healthy balance sheet.

It wants a healthy workforce, and recently hosted a Well Being event at its Colmore Square centre.

The aim was to help promote the benefits of the right sort of eating, physical exercise and keeping your body in top shape.

The event kicked off with an early morning aerobic work out courtesy of Living Well, followed by sessions from BUPA, Philpotts, David Lloyd Health Clubs and the British Dietetic Association.

Employees from the office's 500-strong workforce listened to advice, watched demonstrations and participated in 11 sessions throughout the twodays. They included cholesterol and blood pressure tests, foot examinations, fruit smoothies and a whole host of other activities.

Ronnie Bowker, senior partner, said: "We believe that our strongest asset is our people and we encourage a healthy work/life balance for our employees. We understand that a healthy workforce is a happy one and from the response I have had so far about the Well Being Day we'll certainly be organising another in the near future."
