A team of female employees from law firm Harrison Clark LLP has finally counted up the money they raised from running in the Cancer Research charity’s Race for Life.

Race for Life is Cancer Research UK’s flagship event that has grown to become the UK’s largest women-only fund-raising event with every pound raised in sponsorship going towards furthering the charity’s ground-breaking work. The team from Harrison Clark took part in events in Bromsgrove, Worcester, Cheltenham and Birmingham and between them raised £2,225 for the charity.

Several of the 17 participants who completed the 5km race had not done so before. Harrison Clark’s team included Anita Hennessey, Ann Fraser, Brenda Spain, Clare Thompson, Helen Kelly, Jane O’Shaughnessy, Janet Hugman, Karen Jeynes, Lisa Harper, Lucy Small, Margaret Holmes, Mary Wathen, Nikki Powell, Rachael Thornton, Rebecca Troughton, Suraiya Haq and Zoe Atkinson.

Janet Hugman, a legal secretary at Harrison Clark who co-ordinated the team with colleague Margaret Holmes, said: “It was an extremely moving experience to take part in such an event. One of our colleagues Ann Fraser who took part with us in the race is being treated for cancer and completed the course whilst undergoing chemotherapy. She was a great inspiration to us all.”

Eighteen team members from the offices of property consultancies King Sturge, Birmingham, also took part in Race for Life, raising over £2,920.
