Structural engineering in sympathy with historical and natural surroundings has earned consultant Gifford recognition in the form of two awards from the Civic Trust.

Gifford was structural engineer for the Compton Verney Mansion House & Art Gallery near Stratford-on-Avon and the Brading Roman Villa on the Isle of Wight.

Respectively, these projects have won the Civic Trust's Culture & Regeneration Award and the Rural Design Award for a project in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Compton Verney is an 18th century, Grade I listed mansion house between Wellesbourne and Kineton.

The Robert Adam-designed building has been restored for use as an art gallery with a two-storey extension.

The new concrete-framed and stone clad building has been designed and built to complement the mansion house.
