A Yorkshire materials testing companies has moved into premises in the Black Country to be nearer its customers.

Focus NDT, which provides non-destructive testing services, to a wide range of engineering companies, has taken 8,000 sq ft in Fordhouse Road, Bushbury, Wolver-hampton, on a long lease.

It is next to one of its major customers, BST Supplies, which produces safety-critical fasteners to sectors such as the offshore drilling, nuclear and naval industries.

Focus provides a wide range of services including ultrasonic testing of wrought products and castings, and materials, metallurgical and analytical support for organisations both nationally and internationally.

It also carries out dye penetrant and magnetic particle tests on metal tubing which are used to make fasteners and other components.

The tests are designed to identify flaws in the surface of the metal before it is used to make components.

Any parts which have faults are quarantined, while completed parts are retested again to prevent any defects slipping through.

The company, which has its headquarters in Rotherham and a further branch in Aberdeen, made its latest move so as to provide increased support to its West Midlands customer base.

Area manager Stewart Dudwell said it had created four jobs but this number was likely to grow with new business in the region.

Mr Dudwell said: "We identified the opportunity to grow our business in the West Midlands region, and in Fordhouse Road, we are ideally placed for our customers.

"We are close to the Black Country manufacturing and engineering core market and have good motorway connections.

"When the opportunity was identified by commercial property consultant John Truslove to purchase premises right next door to one of our major customers, the opportunity seemed too good to miss."
