A Coventry public relations agency has been chosen to speak at a star-studded business event in the Midlands.

Adam Dent, managing director Advent Communications, will present a PR seminar on October 11 at the Ricoh Arena in the city.

Mr Dent established Advent Communications in 1998 and the company, which is based in the city, handles key accounts across the region including the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, British Land and Macdonald Hotels.

His seminar "You, Me and the SME" will explain how companies can best make their activities appealing to the media.

B2B Midlands is considered as the premier business event for the region and will not only host around 170 stands and 3,000 visitors, it will offer lots of information and inspiration to companies and individuals.

Former Boomtown Rat Bob Geldof is a keynote speaker at the event - on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 10 and 11 - as well as Richard Duvall the founder of the internet bank Egg.

Mr Dent said: "I hope to explain quick and easy steps which will allow companies to build their profile and make themselves appealing to the media."

B2B Midlands organiser Bron Ellis believes PR can be one of the classic "business back-burners".

"Public relations can be vital in certain markets yet we often talk to companies who have great intentions to publicise their work but they get sidelined because the business is so busy with its core activities.

"Adam's seminar will provide an insight into the workings of the press and how companies can make their activities newsworthy."
