Worcestershire lighting firm FW Thorpe has launched a review of its operations after a mixed performance in some divisions.
The Redditch company, which makes interior and exterior lighting equipment for industrial and commercial use, made the announcement as it revealed a 24 per cent increase in interim pretax profits.
Pretax profits rose to £2.32 million in the six months to the end of December from £1.87 million in 2003, while sales increased from £17.8 million to £20.5 million.
The performance meant the firm, whose ranges include Thorlux Lighting, Mackwell Electronics, Compact Lighting and Sugg Lighting, increased its dividend from 2.2p to 2.5p.
Chairman Andrew Thorpe said the company would now review its operations.
Redundancies were not on the agenda at the company which employs 250 people at its head office and Thorlux site in Redditch.
Mr Thorpe said: " Performance within the group has been mixed, prompting the company to be pro-active in conducting reviews of certain areas of operation.
"Reviews have included manufacturing production, where the rapid rate of increased output in recent years has led to inefficiencies."
Mr Thorpe said the company was also looking at product areas to asses the viability of certain ranges.
He added: "Actions emanating from these reviews and a continuing drive to bring new products competitively to the market should underpin future growth prospects.
"Order output for January and February gives us encouragement that trading should be maintained for the rest of this financial period."
