Former president Peter Mathews CMG has been made an honorary member of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce of Commerce.

Current president Mike Dell said: “Peter has shown tremendous dedication to his role as Immediate Past President over the last year and as President of the Black Country Chamber for three years prior to that.

“The boards and I wanted to thank Peter for his outstanding service and distinguished achievements; amongst the many achievements of Peter’s period as President his proudest is getting the Black Country on the map.

"To quote him “why would you trade with someone if you can’t even find them on a map? We are therefore delighted to award Peter with the award of honorary Chamber member for life.

“I am sure Peter will continue to be an active and valued member of the Chamber who is committed to ensure the Black Country flourishes in the future.”

Mr Mathews added: “I am delighted to be recognised by the Chamber in receiving this honour. 

"As businesses are aware, I am committed to ensure businesses in Black Country are properly represented and prosper; I proved this during my three years as Black Country Chamber President and one year as Immediate Past President.

"I will continue to offer my help and support, in taking on my new role as honorary Chamber member to ensure the real voice of business is heard.”
