The world is just one big playground for a Warwickfirm that is achieving global success - and not in a roundabout way.

Playsafe, the software that allows local authorities to monitor the safety levels of playground equipment, has been taken on by organisations in America, Ireland and the Benelux countries of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

It is the product of Public Sector Software ( PSS), based at the University of Warwick Science Park's Innovation Centre at the Warwick Technology Park.

The software is already used by local authorities across the UK, including Warwick District Council and Stratford District Council.

Now it is being distributed by playground supplier All Play Agencies in Ireland, Play Safety Services Incorporated and Playground Maintenance Services in California, and manufacturer KOMPAN in the Benelux region.

The international success has paved the way for PSS to take on more staff and move to a bigger office at the park.

Sarah Wardle, of Public Sector Software, said she was delighted with the progress the company had made.

"We offer a unique product and it is proving very successful among local authorities. It is specifically aimed at ensuring safety standards don't slide.

"Our strong web presence has helped us attract a lot of interest from overseas and we have worked out a distributor-style agreement with partners abroad.

"We are well settled at the Warwick Innovation Centre. It is so flexible, we have been able to move into a bigger unit with none of the disruption or cost of a normal move."

John Barnes, manager at the Science Park, said PSS was a perfect example of a growing company that was making the most of the facilities available to it.

He added: "They are using the centre exactly as it was intended, to allow small companies to come here, become successful, then to provide facilities that grow with the company.

"Several of our companies have international dealings, helping put the Innovation Centre on the map."
