Firms from across Birmingham’s professional, creative and lifestyle sectors have come together to support Birmingham Future’s official welcome to new graduate recruits.
The event, which takes place tomorrow at Birmingham’s Council House, will be attended by 250 graduates and representatives from across the city. This year’s event will reflect the breadth of the city’s offer for graduates across the public, private, creative and leisure sectors.
Sponsors include Locate in Birmingham, West Bromwich Building Society, Harvey Nichols, Creative Republic and FleetMilne Residential. Graduates will also have the opportunity to find out more about volunteer work and fund-raising programmes across the city and region.
Mike Loftus of Locate in Birmingham said: “The employers we want to attract to the City need to be convinced that they can recruit and retain the talented people they need to ensure that their operations will grow - this is even more vital in the changed
circumstances we may now be facing.
“Birmingham Future provides us with a splendid opportunity to showcase the ability and commitment of younger professionals in the City and their engagement in shaping its development which impresses investors enormously; we see the Welcome event as something which ensures that this will continue.”
Ben Evans, Lettings manager at FleetMilne Residential said: “To attract and retain the best graduates, cities are not only competing in terms of the quality of jobs available, but the quality of life too. New graduates are not only looking for a fantastic job, they want to get the most out of the lifestyle opportunities on offer.
“City living in Birmingham offers a wealth of choice and experiences, and we’re proud to be supporting Birmingham Future’s Welcome to Birmingham event, which offers an unrivalled opportunity for new graduate recruits to find out more about the city in which they have chosen to start their career.”
Ruth Ward, Chair of Birmingham Future’s Graduates into Employment Committee, which organises the annual event, said:
“We are delighted that Welcome to Birmingham has attracted support from such a broad range of firms from across the city. Birmingham offers new recruits exceptional career opportunities, coupled with an exciting and varied lifestyle, and we hope that by continuing to promote these opportunities and giving our graduates a warm welcome to the city we can help to give them a head start in their working life.”
