West Midlands multimedia agency, Fireloop Creative has picked up a prestigious Roses Design award after entering one of its web sites into the competition.

The company's site for independent London-based filmmaker, Mister Young, won a silver award for Best Website against work by some of the cream of agencies from Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool.

The awards are run each year by marketing magazine The Drum, and attract entries from the best of the UK design industry.

Dave Evans, of Fireloop Creative, which is based in Birmingham's Custard Factory said, "The design's concept and the title of the site come from one of Mister Young's first films. The web site is black and white, a little creepy and has the look of an old movie projector.

"As a relatively young agency, we are delighted to have won this award. The competition has been tough, and it is an honour to be nominated alone. The north of the country is renowned for exceptional design, so it's fantastic to see our work compared to the standard of output from that part of the country."

Originally from Birmingham, but now based in London, Mister Young has seen recent success himself with his documentary, East 3, having been shown at both the Chicago and New York Underground Film Festivals.

He also tours schools and introduces pupils to the experience of making films. Fireloop Creative specialises in designing and building bespoke websites for companies and individuals across the UK.

It has recently updated the ArtsFest web site for Birmingham City Council for the second year running, as well as its work being seen in July around the city centre and online for the 23rd Birmingham International Jazz Festival.
