The Birmingham office of business and financial services firm Grant Thornton has boosted its wealth advisory team with the appointment of Maxine Wilkie.

Ms Wilkie has two decades of experience in financial services, joining Grant Thornton after six years with independent adviser LEBC.

Skilled in all aspects of financial planning, Ms Wilkie has specialist expertise in retirement planning and has also worked closely with a number of law firms in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands on divorce-related pensions matters.

Her new role will involve advising clients across the Midlands on the full range of pensions, savings and investments as well as inheritance tax planning.

Jonathan Neale, who leads the wealth advisory team in Birmingham, said: "Grant Thornton's wealth advisory revenues in Birmingham have increased over recent years and Maxine's appointment allows us to build on and develop that growth even further.

"Her specialism in retirement planning is particularly relevant in light of the recent and radical changes to the UK's pensions regime."

Ms Wilkie added: "Grant Thornton has a well-deserved reputation for providing clients with holistic and independent financial advice based on researching the whole of the market.

"Pension planning is a particularly hot topic at the moment.

"With greater choice comes a greater need to review all the options to ensure that our clients take the correct decisions for their particular circumstances, both now and projected into the future."
