A Tamworth-based equipment supplier to the plastics industry has expanded its service offering and established a new division after receiving six-figure lending support.

Summit Systems, which supplies plastic processing and recycling equipment which enables customers to be more efficient and deliver less wasteful production, agreed the deal with Lloyds TSB Commercial.

The business has expanded to set up a specialist recycling division, Boomerang Plastics, in order to recycle used yogurt cartons from customers including Müller Dairy into reusable plastic. The state-of-the-art recycling operation has the capability to process several thousand tonnes of material per year, which would have previously gone to landfill sites.

Summit Systems has an annual turnover of around £7 million and now employs 42 people, after an additional eight members of staff were recruited to specifically work within the new division.

Established in 1990, the business operates from three sites in Tamworth, with Boomerang Plastics occupying new 7,000 square foot premises on the Lichfield Road Industrial Estate.
