Straight Business Solutions, based in St Paul’s Square, Birmingham, has taken on three new business finance advisers for the region to cope with demand from the SME marketplace for all types of business finance and grant funding.
The firm said the new appointments would be an attempt to take the role back to the days of the “old-fashioned bank manager” where clients, either directly or through their accountant and lawyers, can have the services of a business finance adviser to recommend where and how to access finance.
Mike O’Dwyer, a director of Straight Business Solutions said: “Only a few years ago, bank managers had the discretion to lend to business without onerous restrictions; since the credit crunch, those opportunities have gone.
Now, it is a matter of packing deals across various finance providers and various types of finance to spread the risk.
“We have had a bumper year so far with particular success in sourcing Enterprise Finance Guarantee funding. We see ourselves as being complementary to the banks as opposed to competing with them; indeed, we have very strong relationships with all the major banks. It is a great feeling to be able to say to our clients ‘yes, you can.’”
The company provides finance to a range of firms, from startups to multi-national companies.
