Midlands accountancy and business advisory services firm Smith Cooper has relocated its Birmingham office.

The business has signed the lease on two floors at 158 Edmund Street in Birmingham city centre after outgrowing its previous home at Livery Place.

The move follows a recent recruitment drive for the firm, which has seen the Birmingham team increase its staff numbers over the past year from 12 to 18.

Jackie Hendley, head of tax at Smith Cooper, said the firm plans to add more staff as well as further developing the range of specialist services offered to its client base.

Ms Hendley said: “As a firm, we have consistently met and exceeded all of our growth targets and are absolutely delighted to expand our operations here in Birmingham - a key growth area for Smith Cooper.

“It’s always great to be in a position whereby larger premises are essential due to an increase in staffing as a result of a number of major client wins and further diversification of our specialist teams.

“We are committed to growth. Each of our new recruits have brought different areas of expertise and experience to the team, and will be invaluable as we look to continue our growth in the months and years ahead.

“We look forward to showing our clients and contacts round our fantastic new office.”

Among the recent appointments are business recovery and insolvency partner Nick Lee, who joined Smith Cooper from Baker Tilly.
