Independent wealth manager Rowan Dartington is to open a new office in Birmingham as part of its regional expansion plans.

The firm has appointed Hitesh Mistry and Paul Smith from WH Ireland to head up the operation.

Mr Mistry has 20 years’ experience in the industry. He began his career with Albert E Sharp in Birmingham, the precursor to Gerrard Investment Management. He then moved to Barclays Wealth & Investment Management before his most recent role at WH Ireland.

Mr Smith is a chartered wealth manager with 18 years’ experience gained in roles at Gerrard Investment Management and Charles Stanley. He also worked at Barclays Wealth & Investment Management prior to WH Ireland.

Both will be responsible for developing new business opportunities in the region as well as advising clients on investment strategy, financial planning and tax issues.

Graham Coxell, executive chairman, Rowan Dartington, said: “We have always viewed Birmingham as a prospective regional hub for us and the proposed acquisition by SJP, which still requires regulatory approval, has further strengthened the rationale for us opening a new centre there.

“The Birmingham office is likely to be one of many new locations in the near future.

“Both Hitesh and Paul bring with them a wealth of experience and come to us with great reputations in the industry. We are happy to have them on board.”
