Financial services firm PwC has welcomed more than 130 graduates and students into its Birmingham practice as part of bumper recruitment drive in the Midlands.

The firm has taken on 201 new starters in total with 132 joining its office in Cornwall Street and a further 42 in Castle Donington and 27 in Milton Keynes.

The 2016 intake is a seven per cent increase on last year’s recruitment programme and the roles are spread across the firm’s assurance, tax, consulting and deals departments.

Fancy a career change?

They include graduate level positions, undergraduate business placements, internships and higher apprenticeships.

PwC said a high proportion of the 2016 hires came from universities in the region including Aston University, Birmingham City University and University of Birmingham.

Midlands regional chairman Matt Hammond said: "Welcoming our new graduates and undergraduates to PwC in the Midlands is always one of the highlights of the year.

"With over 1,600 staff already across the region, we're passionate about promoting the Midlands as a fantastic place to live and work.

"We are delighted that the class of 2016 is drawn largely from the Midlands' high calibre universities. We're committed to investing in our next generation of talent and supporting them through their career development.

"We're already looking to next year's recruitment."
