Andy Ford has been appointed the new head of PwC’s government and public sector team in the Midlands.

Mr Ford was previously the leader of the firm’s public sector consulting practice in the South East region, where he focused on helping clients deliver major transformation programmes to reduce costs and improve competitiveness.

Born and raised in the West Midlands, Mr Ford worked in a number of public sector and local government organisations before joining PwC in 1993.

He said: “While there has been good economic recovery in the region, public sector organisations remain under considerable financial pressures.

“The challenge that many now face is how they continue to transform their services so they are customer focused and cost effective. I’m really looking forward to joining the Midlands team to help deliver the solutions these organisations need.”

Mark Smith, regional chairman at PwC in the Midlands, said: “Recent government figures have shown that Birmingham is the largest centre in Great Britain for employment in public administration, education and health. With such a strong public sector presence in the region, we’ve worked hard to put in place a specialist team that is committed to improving the delivery of public services. I’m delighted Andy is joining us and his knowledge and experience will be a strong addition to PwC in the Midlands.”
