Legal recruitment firm Ortus Professional Search has moved into the world of finance, after merging with a specialist accountancy M&A and an executive search company.
The company, which is based in the Jewellery Quarter, had historically worked solely within the legal services sector, providing an executive search service for partner and senior roles within law firms across the UK.
Colin White, the managing director of Ortus, said the merger with Warwickshire firm Boston Bailey would benefit both the company and its clients.
“The decision to develop an accountancy division within Ortus to support our legal practice division is a commercial progression echoing the natural route of businesses working within professional services,” he said.
“This is particularly pertinent with the long-term implications of the Legal Services Act in mind. The cross-selling opportunities and working partnerships achieved through the combination of these two services will enable us to provide a full executive search solution, bring together more mergers and generate more revenue for our clients through recommendations and the trusted partnerships we have created.”
Mr White will continue in his role as managing director of the legal arm, and Justin Hodgin will be managing director of the accountancy arm. Both will look at strategic development across all professional practice disciplines.
Within the last two years, Ortus has moved into the specialised arena of practice merger and acquisition. It has brought together a number of lucrative mergers, with one client entering the legal top 100 for the first time as a direct result.
Mr White has more than 12 years of experience within the legal sector of the executive search industry, whilst Mr Hodgin is an accountant with strong commercial links.
Mr Hodgin said: “My team and I chose to merge with Ortus because the markets are converging and this enables us to develop a fuller service offering to the professional services market. We have already generated some great introductions and business opportunities for each other.”
