A group of well-known insurance brokers have launched a new venture in Birmingham city centre.
Managing director Richard Waltier and fellow directors Andy Smallwood, Andy Copeland and Jon Chance have brought together their years of experience to found Colmore Insurance Brokers in Newhall Street.
The new company says it will focus on four main sectors - commercial insurance, national charity and care businesses, real estate and private clients.
Mr Waltier believes the team's collective experience has allowed them to create a unique model in the sector.
"We have all come from a background working with some of the world's biggest brokers which has given us an invaluable insight into best practice within the industry but also where it can be improved and that has very much been the driving force in launching Colmore Insurance Brokers," he said.
"While we have some incredibly ambitious growth plans, a key point of difference for us is that we are smaller than many of our competitors so we are able to be much more client focused while still bringing the knowledge that comes from half a century of collective experience.
"The four of us have decided to step away from the comfort blanket of working for someone else and put our money where our mouth is with this new company and you can only do that if you love what you do.
"The fact that we are already winning business both in Birmingham and London would suggest that our offer combined with our enthusiasm is already beginning to pay off."
The company has six full time staff including Dean Nelson, who is the former insurance manager at international engineering firm IMI.
Mr Smallwood added: "We would like to think that we will be up to 15 or 20 staff over the next 12 to 18 months with potentially two or three new offices during that time period.
"Birmingham will remain our headquarters but we want to be a national player and we are looking for other like-minded entrepreneurial individuals to open offices in different towns and cities under the Colmore brand."
