Mazars named firm of the year

International accountancy firm Mazars, which has an office in Birmingham, has scooped an award at a national ceremony.

The company was named ‘Large Firm of the Year’ in the 2008 Accountancy Age Awards for its performance over the last 12 months.

David Chapman, senior partner at Mazars’ base in Lancaster House, Birmingham, said: “Without doubt the last year has been one of our most exciting and successful ever and this award is a excellent conclusion.

“Although we are a large international firm with vast experience we pride ourselves on having a personal touch and find that owner-managed businesses benefit from this combination.”

He added that the last 12 months had seen expansion of Mazars’ specialist teams, such as forensic services, tax advisory, transaction support and corporate finance.

This Midlands growth has helped Mazars to become the eighth largest provider of audit services by fee income and have the fastest growing tax practice amongst top 20 firms. The firm also stands out for advancements in a number of areas including cross-border transactions; the financial services sector; establishing a global centre of excellence for project finance and launching a regulatory compliance service.
