A “tailored” cash plan launched in February by BHSF (the former Birmingham Hospital Saturday Fund) has prompted a 33 per cent jump in quote requests for employer-funded schemes, according to sales and marketing director Brian Hall.

The plan has significantly increased the nationwide healthcare insurer’s footprint in this particular growing market.

Mr Hall said: “The number of opportunities being quoted in conjunction with private medical insurance has risen dramatically.”

One of the firms which attended the launch was London-based intermediary Secure Health and director Jonathan Byfield said: “The quotes we have seen are highly competitive and bespoke in every aspect.

“We have been able to flex the mix and scale of benefits and, where appropriate, cover private medical insurance excess.”

Mr Hall added: “We have come at this from the intermediary’s standpoint to deliver a service that will genuinely meet expectations. The product was in development for a considerable time and our patient approach seems to have paid off.”

BHSF is a leading not for profit supplier of health and employee benefits.
