Investors from emerging markets like India and China are looking at the UK more favourably again according to PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Sue Rissbrook, emerging markets specialist, at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the Midlands, said: “We are beginning to see an increase in interest from inward investors and in many ways this is a positive side-effect of the recession. This could prove beneficial to the Midlands economy, particularly if the UKcontinues to trail the recovery underway in some other parts of the world.

“Lower corporate valuations along with a strong skills base means that inward investors can potentially pick up good businesses in the Midlands. The weakened currency further makes the UKmore attractive to overseas investors.

“In addition, the Midlands has particularly strong cultural links with India– a thriving economy which is currently growing at a rate of about 6% - and this could be helping to attract interest from overseas investors.”
