Experienced Midland dealmaker Gary Hyem has joined independent Birmingham-based corporate finance firm Cattaneo.

Mr Hyem joins from M3 Corporate Finance for whom he established a Birmingham office in 2009.

Prior to M3, he held senior positions at Clearwater Corporate Finance and private equity business, Baring English Growth Fund, where he led deals as principal. He gained his initial corporate finance experience with big four accountants PwC and Ernst & Young.

He will target corporate transactions in and around the greater Midlands region as well as further afield and brings expertise is in working with both shareholders and management teams to structure solutions for succession, including buy-outs, buy-ins and equity release transactions. Cattaneo was formed in 2005 and has steadily grown to a team of five senior principals and consultants based in Birmingham. Cattaneo is currently advising the Edgbaston-based Islamic Bank of Britain on the latest approach by their majority shareholder to buy out the minority shareholders in the company.
