Harrison Clark has expanded its insolvency services team with the appointment of a banking specialist.

Jason Newbold joins the firm in the newly-created role of head of recoveries, in response to increased demand for its services.

Jason will work alongside Harrison Clark’s established insolvency department and is responsible for dealing with a range of issues relating to debt recovery, banking litigation, loans and securities.

He will also be developing a range of services tailored to the banking and finance sector, including advice to directors on loan issues and personal guarantees.

He previously worked as a legal advisor in the group litigation department of HSBC in Birmingham. His positions at the bank included managing the mortgage repossessions and bank charges litigation teams. He is a fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.

Jason said: “This new role appealed to me as I have significant experience in debt recovery and banking litigation, and also because it gives me the opportunity to develop services aimed specifically at banking and other financial sector clients.

“Harrison Clark has a strong reputation across the Midlands and beyond. This position enables me to work with an established and well respected team, and to bring my experience of working within the heart of the banking industry to the firm.

“I’ve been very impressed with the partners’ vision for the firm and this sector, and I’ve been made to feel incredibly welcome. Harrison Clark takes a proactive stance in developing relationships with other professionals and I am already working alongside local insolvency practitioners and accountants in developing focussed, bespoke services for our clients.”

Jon Whitbread, Harrison Clark’s head of insolvency services, said: “We’re delighted to be able to welcome Jason to the team. We’ve seen a big increase in the number of cases we handle, and Jason’s depth of experience will be invaluable in delivering the level of specialist service we offer to our clients.”

Jason, who lives in Shropshire, will be based at the firm’s Worcester offices.
