Business and finance adviser Grant Thornton has strengthened its forensic and investigation services team.
Birmingham-based Barry Dean has joined the firm as national head of forensic investigations for the public sector.
He re-joins the business where he first qualified as a chartered accountant and has over 30 years of experience, working with organisations across the Midlands and UK.
This includes 25 years of specialising in investigations, predominantly in the public sector, covering both local and central government, NHS, social housing and further and higher education.
His experience also includes working for regulators, presenting on fraud risks and leading on counter fraud training.
Mr Dean said: "Grant Thornton has a market-leading presence in the public sector and I am excited to extend further our breadth of offering by enhancing the firm's capabilities in investigation services.
"I am delighted to be given the opportunity to work with a first-class client portfolio and to utilise my experience to help add further value.
"The public sector is under increased pressure to deliver more with less, while demonstrating probity with public funds."
