Property entrepreneur Stephen Goldstein has joined accountants and business advisers Friend LLP as chairman of its corporate finance division.
The firm, which has offices in Brindleyplace, Birmingham and London, said the appointment will add another layer of expertise.
Mr Goldstein founded surveying practices Alexander Stevens and Stephens McBride and is a former chairman of the Jewellery Quarter Urban Renewal.
He has also had joint ventures in the leisure sector with the former Ansells brewery and is currently chairman of a French leisure group in the hotel and golf course sector.
