A Birmingham-based utility payments company has made its first acquisition since being founded 11 years ago.
Glide has acquired Huru, a London-based multi-tenant billing start up.
The company was set up by two University of Birmingham students in 2006 and offers multi-tenant billing for people living or working in shared accommodation.
It offers students, professionals and business customers one single monthly bill to cover all their utilities and portfolios.
Until now, Glide has largely targeted key student cities to achieve growth but its new office in London will enable it to focus on young professionals living in shared houses in the capital.
It has grown to a £28 million turnover company employing 80 staff and in 2016 was bought out by CableCom which specialises in broadband, TV and telephony services for the student and landlord market.
Arthur Jones, Glide's London business development manager, will head up the new office.
He said: "While Glide has experienced a 32 per cent sales growth in the past year, with a 58 per cent increase in number of broadband customers since being acquired by Cablecom, we believe there is still huge potential for growth with a new presence in the capital.
