Law firm BPE has advised the owners of a Warwick-based specialist healthcare events company on its share sale to Closer Still Investments.

Pioneer is a firm which has made a career of trade and consumer shows and high profile conferences. Top shows managed by the company include the Dentistry Show and the Pharmacy Show, both of which typically attract thousands of professional delegates.

The owners decided to sell a majority share in the business to Closer Still Investments for an undisclosed sum after the current directors agreed that the company required additional investment in order to achieve its strategy for further growth and development.

Pioneer will continue to be operated on an “as is” basis by the current team, ensuring continuity and accountability for performance.

The company’s 25 employees have all been retained and managing director Nick Orton will continue to run the business.

Mr Orton said: “With the investment offered by the share sale, Pioneer remains in a fantastic position to continue to go from strength to strength.

“We are the event management company of choice for the healthcare sector.

“We have a reputation for delivering the best possible levels of service to exhibitors and delegates alike.”

BPE corporate partner Tim Ward advised the owners on the sale, supported by employment associate John Turnbull.

Kerman and Co advised Closer Still.

Mr Ward said: “Pioneer is a flagship events management business which has grown beyond recognition since it was first established fours years ago thanks to the vision and dedication of its founding directors and current management team.

They deserve their success and should be proud of the market-leading reputation they have gained in the industry.”

BPE Solicitors is a commercial law firm operating in the South West and the Midlands, with its Birmingham office on Bennetts Hill, off Colmore Row. It operates a range of services including corporate finance advice.

It is one of the raft of mid-sized regional legal firms to establish a presence in Birmingham’s professional services district over the last few years.

One of the deals it worked on last year was advising Active Private Equity on its purchase of a majority stake in Evans Cycles, the independent chain of UK specialist cycling stores.
