Birmingham banker Jag Shoker has quit finance to become an author and performance coach for business leaders and professional athletes.

Mr Shoker spent nine years as a Barclays bank regional business development director and at the same time developed a personal coaching practise.

His book Playing the Beautiful Game was published last year.

Mr Shoker said: “Whilst it is a big decision to move on from a career I have thoroughly enjoyed, I’m excited at the opportunity of committing myself full time to the field of high performance coaching and the greater capacity this will allow to work more widely with individuals in business and sport who aspire to be the very best in their field.”

Paul Bassi, chief executive of Real Estate Investors, added: “The passion that Jag has for helping others maximize their potential and achieve personal contentment is sincere and unique; this is evident and creatively expressed in his book.”

Ray O’Donoghue, Midlands regional managing director for Barclays, added: “Jag like his book possesses a unique ability to identify, inspire, and maximize a person’s potential.”
