A war games company could be on the cusp of becoming a multi-million pound firm thanks to the help of an accountancy firm in Stratford.
Leigh Graham Associates (LGA) has taken on the accounts for Northamptonshire-based Warfighters, which hosts real life versions of video games, catering for a market which includes stag and birthday parties and corporate team building days.
Without the expertise of accountancy partners Leigh Day and Graham Beach, Warfighters owner Dave Thatcher believes the company wouldn’t be in the running for one of the most lucrative deals in the military simulation market.
“What we do is unique,” he said.
“We are the only company in the history of video games to have been granted exclusive rights by publisher Ubisoft – the Walt Disney of the gaming world – to host a real life version of their BAFTA award winning game Ghost Recon.
“What makes us different is our technology and innovation.
“Our technology is military standard and we are tendering against multi-million pound companies.
“We’re talking to the US government about doing some training for the US army.
“If that comes off it will transform us from a small company to a multi-million pound one.
“The cool thing is LGA have guided me through the process of not only incorporating my sole trade business but have also assisted me with understanding capital investment requirements.”
Warfighters, whose resources include 55 real tanks, has worked on the Call Of Duty video games series and is used for movie location work on films such as Green Zone and Black Hawk Down.
Leigh Graham Associates partner Leigh Day added: “Many people in a start up position are put off appointing an accountant because they fear they are an expensive indulgence.
“But Dave’s right in saying we can get on with what he regards as the dull stuff while he can have fun doing what he does best – running his business.”
