Birmingham firm Faithful+Gould is helping young people towards a brighter future by linking up with the St Basil’s charity.
Employees from the project and cost management consultancy donated four starter packs to St Basil’s that works with young people facing homelessness. The packs contain new essential household items which support the initial move into supported accommodation, preventing young people from moving into what could be an empty home.
The packs which include bed clothes, cooking utensils, cutlery and towels to the value of £200, were presented to St Basil’s by Kevin McNealey, director, and Gareth Edwards, chair of Faithful+Gould’s innovation team.
Mr Edwards said: “The directors and staff from the Birmingham office pulled together to make up the starter packs and are over the moon about working with a great local charity such as St Basil’s, which carries out so much valued work. It is rewarding to know that we can help to ease some of the strain that young people at St Basil’s go through and satisfying to have contributed somewhat to a new beginning.”
The initiative, based on input from the Government’s Rough Sleepers Unit, has developed the concept of a standard ‘starter pack’ ready to support those who lack suitable facilities in moving in to accommodation.
St Basil’s fund-raiser Steve Rainbow said: “I’d like to thank everybody at Faithful+Gould who contributed to the starter pack. It will go a long way to help someone who is moving in to St Basil’s.
“The recipient also retains the pack when they move to a more permanent home; this is why the items are required to be new as it is an important part of a process designed to restore pride and sense of worth.”
Previously, Faithful+Gould, a project and cost management consultancy, has been involved in a community project in Moseley, helping to refurbish the old Post Office building, and has given up time to help in a local school.
