An eyesore plot off Birmingham's Broad Street is set for long-overdue redevelopment with an apartment block.
Granville Lofts will be a £17 million scheme on the corner of Granville Street and Holliday Street, in the city centre.
Seven Capital bought the plot from RBS's investment arm West Register which is stepping back from development.
It plans to develop 119 homes and 50 parking spaces on the site.
Bob Ghosh, of K4 Architects, has drawn up plans and said it would help transform a plot which had stalled over the past decade.
He said: "It is a great opportunity here because the site has lain empty for so long. It is a good site but has become a bit of an eyesore.
"The council wanted a high-quality building and Seven Capital was keen to have a good entrance space and a garden at the back. I am really excited about this one."
He added: "It is such a long site, it is quite difficult to prolong elevation so we have dealt with that by stepping the building in and out, which creates different sizes of apartments inside."
