A Midlands -based niche steel specialist has been sold in a multi-million pound deal.

Steelway Fensecure, of Bilston Road, Wolverhampton has been acquired by Solihull-based Brigam.

The Wolverhampton operation, which has a turnover of £9 million and employs 130 people, produces a variety of complex engineered products for local authorities, utilities and infrastructure markets.

The company recently produced the replica architectural metalwork used in the redevelopment of Birmingham's Moor Street station.

Brigam is a private company which plans to maintain Steelway Fensecure's existing structure and grow its business.

The vendors, Walter Karpynec and Dan Houghton were advised by Ian Curtis and Darren Hodson of BDO Stoy Hayward.

Mr Curtis said, "The business is a very interesting niche operation with strong growth potential. With Brigam's entrepreneurial approach they are well positioned to build on the historical success of Steelway Fensecure."

Legal advice was provided Rob Parry and Michelle Rich of Heatons' Birmingham office.
