More than 100 employees from Ernst & Young in Birmingham got on their bikes to raise thousands of pounds for the Ronnie Bowker Foundation Fund.
The fundraisers combined to cycle the equivalent distance from Birmingham to Johannesburg, the two Ernst & Young offices that Ronnie worked for, and raised more than £24,000 in the process.
The event took place on exercise bikes at gyms around Birmingham as well as on four bikes at the firm’s office in Colmore Square. Ronnie’s wife Julie also took part in the cycle, clocking up 23 miles towards the final total of 6,400 miles.
The Ronnie Bowker Foundation Fund has been launched by Ernst & Young and the Bowker family to create a living legacy for Ronnie, who sadly passed away last year having been the office managing partner for the firm in Birmingham for 15 years. Mark Minihane, Ernst & Young’s sponsor partner of the Ronnie Bowker Foundation Fund, said: “This was the first big event to raise money for the foundation and to raise more than £24,000 is fantastic.”
