Midlands quarrying group Ennstone has made an acquisition north of the border.
Its Scottish arm, Ennstone Thistle, has completed the purchase of the readymix concrete and contracting business of J H Connon in a £1.1 million deal.
Connons is a long established firm based in Aberdeenshire.
Ennstone said its strong market position and customer base would complement and expand its activities in the North-east of Scotland.
The business will form a division of Ennstone Thistle and will continue to operate as J H Connon. Connons has an annual turnover of more than £5 million.
The acquisition will include the transfer of 54 Connons employees to Ennstone Thistle.
Ennstone chairman Vaughan McLeod said: "This is another good bolt-on acquisition which will strengthen our readymix concrete and contracting business in Scotland through its strong brand and customer base."
