The chief executive of Staffordshire-based software firm Eg Solutions, Elizabeth Gooch has been shortlisted for a major business award.

Hosted by the CBI, the annual First Women Awards acknowledge groundbreaking achievements of pioneering businesswomen, and Ms Gooch has been short listed by this year's judging panel in the finance category.

The high-profile event, in London next month, brings together more than 500 of the UK's most prominent and influential female entrepreneurs.

Ms Gooch founded Eg Solutions in 1988 to provide operations management solutions to service sector companies. In 2005 the company was listed on AIM and has since expanded sales reach into countries such as South Africa, the Netherlands and India. Its client list includes more than 50 Blue Chip financial sector companies.

Ms Gooch said: "I have, over the years, become increasingly aware that with hard work and self belief, women are able to achieve as much success as they desire."
