Staffordshire software and support services company EG Solutions is increasing its emphasis on Scandinavia. The Penkridge firm, which joined AIM in June 2005, said it continued to explore growth opportunities with strong potential in the region.

It has appointed a regional business development manager, based in Denmark, to capitalise on opportunities in the financial sector in the area, while research was underway to identify further opportunities with similar potential.

EG, which employs 51 peoples, already numbers HBOS Financial Services, Royal and Sun Alliance, Norwich Union, Scottish Equitable and Cooperative Financial Services among its clients.

Speaking at the company's AGM in London yesterday, chairman Rodney Baker-Bates said the business had generated strong organic growth while maintaining operating margins.

He said: "Following on from a very encouraging first quarter, high levels of market activity since then and a strengthening of repeat maintenance income we maintain our confidence in the likely outcome for the year.

"Ian Wright joined the company as chief operating officer in April and has been focusing on the operational management of the company."

This had enabled managing director Elizabeth Gooch to focus on international strategy.

Mr Baker-Bates said: "In line with our stated objectives we continue to make good progress in penetrating new sectors and new territories, focusing primarily on English-speaking countries."
